Supporting the Zen Center

Great Brightness Zen Center was established for committed students who wish to work with a teacher on a personal and individual basis. New students are asked to make a minimum commitment to practice for six months.

Your continuing support gives you the following privileges:

•Private interviews with the teacher

•Practice-related correspondence with the teacher

•Discounts for Great Brightness Zen Center Retreats and events

No one has ever been denied practice for monetary reasons. While all attendees enjoy the same privileges, the amount of the requested monthly donation to GBZC differs, according to financial means.

These categories are:

Founder: for those who wish to make a substantial contribution toward the Center's operation: $40 per month minimum donation.

Regular Attendance: for single, local people who attend on a consistent basis: $30 per month minimum donation.

Family: for couples who are married or have been living together for at least one year (minor children can be included): $40 per month minimum donation.

Student/Senior: for full time students and retired seniors on fixed incomes: $20 per month minimum donation.

Affiliate: for those who live at a distance, come occasionally: $15 per month minimum donation.

Local people are asked to attend GBZC for the Introductory Sitting Instruction session on the 1st WEDNESDAY of the month at 5:30pm (See schedule for more details). We also ask individuals to attend the center regularly once or twice a week for at least one month prior to making a donation commitment.

All donations can be made through our paypal account by clicking the secure DONATE button below. If you have any question about any of the subjects discussed, please contact the center either in person or you may send an e-mail to info@greatbrightness.org.

Precepts ceremonies in the Kwan Um School of Zen (donning a formal robe and kasa) occur twice yearly in GBZC in December and June.

When both you and the guiding teacher feel that you are ready to take that step, the ceremony protocol will be addressed in a clear and timely fashion.
